Charlize Theron Inspired Makeup

Charlize Theron is a natural beauty. She has amazing features and she needs very little makeup to make them stand out. She has a staple makeup look that she wears quite often. It's all about the gold eyes. She loves to wear gold shadows on her lids and her lower lashline and she defines her eyes with a dark liner. Her skin is always very bronzy with golden glow. And lips are usually kept to a minimum with either a pale pink or peach lip.

This is one of my favorite looks because it's so simple and understated but accentuates her features in all the right ways.

Now I recommend ALL of these colors for you but obviously you are going to pick just 3-4. They are: Bitter, Wedge, Deep Truth, Nehru, Blanc Type, Humid, Parfait Amour, Plum Dressing and Beautiful Iris. Go and see what ones you like and buy buy buy!!!! Tell me which ones you get and I will do a tutorial for you based on those colors. Have SO much fun and don't be afraid to try the deeper colors, they will look GREAT with your brown eyes...TRUST me!!!

Let's Talk Oscars!

The Oscars were last Sunday and I have to say almost everyone looked AMAZING. It was mostly all hits with just a few misses.

Some of my favorite looks were Natalie Portman. I loved her pink jewel tone dress and her smokey eyes using pinks and purples. She looked perfect.

Sarah Jessica Parker was another favorite. She was perfection with her princess dress, classic hair and she always makes her eyes pop. Loved it!

Penelope Cruz was very elegant and pretty. She was classic Penelope using browns and golds on her eyes and just defining it with liner and lashes. And her hair and dress made her look like a fairytale.

Vanessa Hudgens I thought looked beautiful and sexy. She knows how to dress for her age keeping it young and sexy but still classy. Her smokey eye and red lip were perfectly suited for her black and white hour glass dress.

And then there was Angelina Jolie....what can I say....FLAWLESS. She kept it so simple but yet on her it looks incredible. Her makeup was very simple, a cat eye liner and lashes. Very minimal eyeshadow and she kept her skin very dewy. To complete the look, the green jewel tone jewellery was the ultimate finishing touch. "sigh" She's amazing.

Now for some misses....

Reese Witherspoon. I don't know what was going on with her. I didn't love her dress. Her hair was a little messy and her makeup.....let's just say it looked like she did it herself. You can match your eyeshadow to the color of your dress IF you do it right. In her case, it was all wrong.

Beyonce. I love Beyonce but I was not a fan of her Oscar look. The dress was too over the top, even for her. She didn't wear any jewellery and her makeup was left bare except for a cat eye liner on her top lid. I think she left all the focus on her dress but unfortunately her dress was more tacky than classy. Sorry Beyonce...I still love you!

Anne Hathaway. Anne Hathaway is beautiful but I wasn't a fan of her pale nude dress. I feel it washed her out especially since her skin is already quite pale.

More Brush Holders!!!!

The first one comes to us from Krystle in California and the second from Nicole in Colorado. Krystle, I LoVe the shape of yours!!! Nicole, what did you use as a filler? It looks so sparkly and beautiful!!!!! That tall brush in the back Nicole and I got together. It is also a craft store find that can be used as a powder brush. How much do we all love the craft store??? =)

Farouk Chi Curling & Flat Irons

Farouk Chi Flat Irons, are without a doubt, the best flat irons on the market. I have used others and have been not been pleased. I find that a lot of flat irons really grab on to your hair and yank it out. Chi Flat Irons, don't do that. Their ceramic plates are placed in such a way that you don't have to worry about your hair being pulled out. Chi also has a great line of hair dryers and curling irons. They also have travel sized tools and 2 in 1 Ceramic Auto Digital Curling Iron, which is a flat iron and curling iron in one! I really love their tools and I have been using them for years, I wouldn't switch brands, because I really don't think there is anything that is better. They also have a large line of hair care products as well as organic products. I have yet to try them. I am currently looking into buying a curling iron, but I am having a hard time trying to decided what sized barrel I should get, 1 inch or 1 - 1/2 inch...such a dilemma!

LG Fashion Week

Huge Lips - Skinny Hips!!!!

The latest magic trick to hit the beauty market is this ingenious little gloss & I just love the name - 'Huge Lips - Skinny Hips'! The product basically claims that while it gives you the perfect full glossy pout it also helps to curb your appetite at the same time, too good to be true...well maybe?!
It contains Hoodia Gordonii extract that is derived from a plant found in Namibia, the manufacturers say that it is known for its many appetite suppressing benefits. What they claim is that once the gloss applied, you should run your tongue over the lips whenever you feel hungry, in just a few seconds that feeling of hunger will disappear... I am yet to be totally convinced! Although with Vitamin B3 the gloss stimulates the blood flow to the lips to create fuller pout without the stinging sensation of other products, after regular use they claim that this can also help reduce any fine lines & wrinkles around the mouth area too.
Well over all as I've mentioned I am very dubious about it actually reducing your appetite to aid weight loss, but it certainly will give you beautiful pout & with the name I'm sure it'll be cult product in no time! £18 at Space NK from 01/03

Phillip Lim Spring 2009 at New York Fashion Week

Want to look model hot? Follow these simple steps that I found on the NARS website and you could achieve the look of the models that strutted down the runway at Phillip Lim's show at New York Fashion Week.

Face:
Apply NARS Concealer as needed, to cover any imperfections
Apply NARS Firming Foundation only if needed, to keep a clear base
Use NARS Multiple Bronzer in Cap Vert over entire face to tan
Apply NARS Multiple in Orgasm over cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin
Layer NARS Blush in Zen to create a dusty look
Finish with a minimal amount of NARS Loose Powder to set the base
Eyes:
Apply NARS Multiple in South Beach to entire lid, blending up to brow, and directly below lower lash line
Apply a generous amount of NARS Eyeliner Pencil in Kitty around entire eye, on inner rim, and in between lashes, blending into South Beach with finger
Layer NARS Eyeliner Pencil in Black Moon
Apply two more alternating layers of Kitty and Black Moon, blending colors into lashes
Use NARS Single Eyeshadow in Grenadines on entire lid, blending up to brows, and beneath lower lash line, smudging with finger
Curl lashes with NARS Eyelash Curler
Apply several coats of NARS Mascara in Black Orchid to top and bottom lashes
Brush brows up and fill in with NARS Eyebrow Pencils, if needed
Lips:
Apply NARS Lipstick in Shrinagar to entire lip with finger

Rihanna People Magazine Cover

This is a request but has SO much more in it!!!!! Not only do I do my take on the Rihanna PEOPLE cover but I also teach about cheekbones for those of you wanting them =) and false eyelash application. I LoVe this look and am VERY pleased with how it all came together. I did forget to record the fact that I used Vanilla as my brow bone color, oops!!!
