She had a dream, a vision of good life and future, she struggles and she struggles harder. The new woman. Ordinary woman. Almost self made with nothing but raw guts and strong survival instinct. Woman with balls, who's unafraid to face challenges.

Meet the ILLUSTRADO WOMEN.Women of substance, a mother, a sister and a friend.

At the Illustrado Event 2011, I was upfronted with disarming ladies who shine, who muscled their way to the top. These are women who are changing the stereotype on their head by being...themselves. An amazing summit of women who are in the forefront of new social order that took place in Dubai.

They came in all sizes, age and degree of appearance at the red carpet, forgetting for the moment that red carpets are all about celebrities and film stars, they are real women on their moments- a collective consciousness of a nation of filipina women we look up and emulate to. Women who sacrifice, who need to be strong and trying to have the empowerment.

That day I saw a new definition of empowerment, they are no longer boxed over someone, it is the empowerment over themselves, assuming total control of their own lives, physically, morally and emotionally. Women who dressed up, women who earn and are responsible of their actions, women who are aware and in- charge of their bodies and fashionable well- being.

Women who shy are passe. It's all about facing the mirror unafraid to say, " I am a woman, a beautiful fabulous woman".
