And the Ocscar goes to.....

The Oscars are always a very glamorous event and last night's show was no exception. My only gripe is that there wasn't anyone that looked outrageous, good or bad. It was all just pretty safe. Safe is OK but this is the Oscars....this is the time to shine.

Here's my play by play recap:
The designer of the night was definitely Marchesa. The designer's dresses were worn by several of the top leading ladies. Makeup was for the most part kept very clean and natural. And hair was all about the messy up do.

Kate Winslet is a classic beauty. She was exquisite in her YSL strapless dress. I loved the retro vibe of her hair and she kept her makeup simple but elegant.
Amanda Seyfried looked gorgeous in her Armani Prive dress. Jlo also wore a dress by the designer from the same collection but I liked Amanda's way more. She wore a slight bronzy smoky eye and kept her hair simple and sleek. She's so pretty!
I loved Carey Mulligan's short pixie cut. She wore a black Prada dress that was edgy but still pretty. Her makeup was simple with a cat eye and pink lips. Her look was so effortless, you can tell she has natural style.
Love her or hate her, Miley Cyrus has been doing everything right lately when it comes to her awards show looks. She was one of my favorites at the Grammys and she looked lovely at the Oscars in her champagne colored gown. She was one of the few who did the 'messy up do' right. And her makeup was fun and youthful with a baby pink lip and dark smoky eye.Meryl Streep is true elegance and style. Her white draped gown was perfect for her. I don't know how she does it but she looks Amazing for her age. This is how you age gracefully (Meg Ryan, Nicole Kidman....take note).Anna Hendrick, the supporting actress from Up in the Air wore an Elie Saab Couture dress. The dress was beautiful but I didn't love the color on her. It was too pale for her skin tone. Her hair was very pretty, slightly pinned up with a few loose curls. Her makeup look was all about the lashes. She looks like she's wearing 2 pairs to get the extra oompf.Penelope Cruz looked classy as she always does in her Donna Karan gown. She rarely gets it wrong.
Gabourey Sidibe and Monique both looked ravishing in blue.

Demi Moore looked fabulous but where was Ashton?Queen Latifah's smoky eye was one of my favorite makeup looks of the night. But my overall favorite look of the night was Sandra Bullock. Her modern version of retro Hollywood glamour looked dazzling. She wore a silver Marchesa beaded gown, sleek hair, and a bright pinky red lip. I did not think she would win for best actress but I'm glad she did. The cutaway shots to her husband Jesse James were a total tear jerker.
There weren't any major disasters but a few looks were questionable.
Zoe Saldana's purple pom pom dress did Not work for me.
I'm a fan of Nicole Richie but I wasn't too sure about her makeup. What do you guys think?Sarah Jessica Parker....what in the world was going on with the hair??? Uuumm perhaps some hair gel or hairspray would've helped. The dress was very SJP but the neckline was off center so it didn't look totally right.
Cameron Diaz looked good but a close up on her face showed she looked a little.....withered.
JLO....again with the messy up do gone wrong! Why was this the hairdo choice of the night by so many people? It doesn't work! I felt her dress was too overpowering but I did like her makeup.A shout out to the boys who were looking super fly in their tuxes - Ryan Renolds, Gerard Butler, Bradley Cooper and of course Taylor Lautner....swoon.

Another reason it was a very special night....the first woman EVER won the Oscar for best Director! Congrats to all the super inspiring ladies out there.

Jennifer Aniston at the Oscars

I love Jennifer Aniston. She is so glamorous and beautiful. She always looks stunning and is never over done. She is a true California girl. I love her taste in clothing, always simple and sophisticated. Most of all her make up is always just right. Never too much and never too little. She always has a golden glow and sparkling eyes. Last night at the Oscars, she did not disappoint. Accompanied by John Mayer, she dazzled in an elegant Valentino gown with Jimmy Choo satin sandals. How can you go wrong with Valentino and Jimmy Choo? In my opinion she was definitely one of the best dressed. As for her make up - perfection. To recreate her look, even if you don't have a make up artist like Angela Levin, follow these simple steps:

Skin: After moisturizing Jennifer's skin, Levin applied Chanel Lift Lumiere foundation in Beige, concealing undereye circles with the matching concealer. Instead of blush, she dabbed Hydrabase lipstick in Coco Red on the apples of Jennifer's cheeks. After that, she dotted Sheer Brilliance in Sunkissed around the tops of Jen's cheekbones. (This captures light with a slight shimmer.) A bit of powder bronzer gave Jen a sunny glow.
Eyes: Jen wore Lorac eye shadows in Jade (green) and Serenity (bronze), along with Tina Earnshaw shadow in Aubergine. She closely lined the top and bottom lashes with black eye shadow. A coat of Chanel Inimitable mascara in black finished the look.
Lips: Lucky Jen got a preview of Chanel's forthcoming Aqualumiere Lipshine in Panarea. Get a similar look with a deep rose, creamy lipstick.
