Color Explosion!!!

Spring 2011 gives us an infuse of color the likes of which we haven't seen in years. Most seen colors on the New York runways of fashion week? Bright blues,  bright chartreuse (is there any other kind?), bright pink, bright reds...Are you seeing a pattern???

Whites, tans and golds were also thrown into the mix whilst incorporating these bright colors. Look at these yummy images below to see how this trend plays out in clothing and makeup. 

Makes me think of Gidget movies from the late 50's early 60's...well maybe not the head piece...

Hot pink is fantastic and also very daring. If you can't commit to the brightness in a large way try it out on your lips first. My fav?  Girl About Town from MAC.

Chartreuse may be a color I have to lightly tread into. My goal this next month? Find one way I can incorporate this bold color into my wardrobe. I think it DoEs look pretty fantastic with that tan!

Without QUESTION I heart white! I am even changing my whole ROOM to have white bedding, large white flower arrangements around the room and I LOVE me a great white T with jeans!!!!! I absolutely love these flowing frocks of yumminess and want them like yesterday!

Tan.

Oh the warmness and chicness of tan. You just can't go wrong. Well, maybe you can...

And last but not least GOLDS. 

 Who doesn't love to sparkle and shine? Find an excuse to sparkle sometime this month and if you don't have a reason MAKE one! Have a girls night out and have everyone step it up a notch. Sometimes I get tired of reserving my cute little dresses for Sunday and wear them out when everyone is in jeans. THAT'S OKAY! Rock a look and have fun with it. If you're looking for a fab eye color to go with your sparkle, brush on some MAC Motif (looks gold but has a pink pearl shine to it) and out you go!

The cat eye is making itself known on the runway this year. MeeOOOOOOwwwwww!!! Let's rock the look and show everyone how fashion forward we are =).

The Lace Trend

You can't deny it. There is something so incredibly feminine, classy and dare I say sexy about lace. It has been all over the runway and I LoVe the way it has been paired with contrasting textures. I found myself wanting to jump on board and had all of these images of Grace Kelly-"ish" outfits, gloves, pearls, DRESSES!!! A girlfriend of mine was wearing the most BeAuTiFuL lace long sleeve shirt underneath your average T-Shirt and I about fell over in my chair! Now other girls would tell you that to take advantage of such a darling look would set you back $50 (most of my friends have paid this). WELL LISTEN TO THIS!!!!!!! 

When in Utah I went to one of my FAV stores, Tres Chic Boutique.  I cannot tell you how giddy and excited I was to not only see SO many colors offered at but also the price was an AmAzInG $24.99!!!!! The mocha colored one is on sale now for $19.99!!! Girls, don't let this pass you up. Go to the site today and grab one for yourself. I got a black one that I wear underneath ANY T-shirt (that isn't navy blue) and it gives it SUCH a great look. It is also comfortable, long and breathable...duh, its lace =). I can't wait to add the cream and white. I think I may even get some of the short sleeve ones. The owner of the store even suggests putting a cream one underneath a long sun dress...how romantic is THAT??? Now I am more conservative and would probably opt for a tighter T underneath, but shown here, you can wear the lace above...ahem...other things =).

Trend Alert - White Liner

White liner is back! It was all over the catwalk and soon it will be all over the streets. White eyeliner is an extremely versatile tool when you know how to use it. When applied to the upper lid, the white attracts light and opens up the shape of your eyes, contrasting the effects of black liner that make your eyes appear smaller. You can also use white liner on the inside of your lower lid as well as the inner corner of the eye to instantly brighten. As with any makeup, be sure to choose the right shade, stark whites can be a bit much so try opting for off-white, creamy white or whites with a silver tint. If you decide to go for a stark white try to soften the liner with a sponge or a Q-tip.

To achieve this look, I suggest trying MAC Cosmetics Eye Kohl in Fascinating.

Spring Trend - Side Braids

Leave it to the genius Alexander Wang to start a huge trend...the side braid seen at his Spring 2010 runway show. It looks so chic and effortless...I am loving this for spring. The best way to wear this is messy! Here are some tips...Just part your hair on the side, gather and braid. When the braid is placed let a few strands loose. If you want to go uber-intense, tease the hair at the crown before braiding. This will give you that crazy, "I've just crawled out of a cave" look which is so in at the moment!

Obsession - Dune Shoes

There is nothing I love more than shoes. I could have closets just full of them! Spring weather has finally arrived and your shoes collection must be updated to keep up with all the spring shoes trends. Spring trends are so refreshing and fun compared to winters dark trends.

One trend that I am looking forward to is – colour! Ditch dark shoes and go for something bold, like these gorgeous fuchsia open toe pumps that you can find at Very.co.uk by Dune Shoes and make a statement.

FMA Entertainment

I had the pleasure of working with TV hosts Erin Ireland and Meena Man for promotional material for their new television show called FMA Entertainment Weekly.

FMA Entertainment Weekly is a weekly, half-hour entertainment and lifestyle show featuring the latest in fashion, music and arts based on West Coast lifestyle trends from LA to Vancouver. The TV show will not only have related features, but also cover topics such as health, beauty, fitness, hotspots, cultures and lifestyles to broaden its appeal to their audience.

The show launched on January 9th, 2010 and can be seen every Saturday night on KVOS TV at 10:30 PM PST (Pacific Standard Time).

Spring 2010 Trends

I am so ready for spring!! Here is a break down of the upcoming trends:

• Wedges - as seen at Proenza Schouler


• Leather - as seen at Karl Lagerfeld, 3.1 Philip Lim, Balenciaga and Balmain

• Accessories galore - it is not what you wear, but how much you wear. Pile it on for spring!


• Lingerie - corests and cute bras will be all the range, alone with sheer shirts à la Alexander Wang





• Pastels and neutrals - ditch the black and opt for pretty pastels, nudes and caramels


• Mid-blue hues - Ditch the acid wash, please!




• Ruffles - as seen at Preen and Marc Jacobs
  
• Digital Prints - streaking and strong, as seen at Versace and Balenciaga.
  

• Cut-out Dresses - slashed out pieces here and there will surely do the trick.
  
• Khaki - think military and not safari.

Trend Alert - Ripped Denim

Ripped jeans are making a comeback! Ripped denim hasn't been big since the grunge days of the 1990's. But top models like Kate Moss and celebrities like Cameron Diaz and Victora Bekham have all been seen sporting this season's denim trend.

There are many ways to wear ripped denim: from jeans to skirts and shorts, holes, rips, and tears, stylish ripped skinnys , baggy boyfriend jeans, or a combo of ripped, bleached and distressed.

If you're thinking of pulling off this denim trend, pair it up with feminine tops, boyfriend blazers, and high heels for a look that’s both feminine and edgy.

Trend Alert - Bold Shoulders

Strong shoulders were in abdunance on the runaways. Dont shy away from this look even though the runway versions can seem a little intimidating. There's definately a way to make this look more wearable so you can add it to your wardrobe.

When wearing this look, keep heels and other acessories minimal to keep the focus on the bold shoulders.

Trend Alert - Oversized Bow Headbands

I don't know if Lady Gaga unknowingly started this trend but Oversized Bow Headbands where seen at several runway shows including Luella Spring 2010 show in London and the Marc by Marc Jacobs show in New York.

If the runway versions are to extreme for you, check out some great wearable options that will still keep you up with the trend and look super cute and flirty.
