Sally the Rag Doll from Tim Burton's the Nightmare Before Christmas is a fav of mine for Halloween. I love the look and the costume is just as fun! Here is my spin on the look and an option for you this Halloween. Our third annual Halloween Contest is coming up soon!!!

Snow White

Halloween is coming ladies! What are you going to be? I will be starting the Halloween series this week and hope that you will send in requests! Our first look will be Snow White. This little princess was beloved and sweet, albeit just a touch naive (NEVER take apples from strangers!). For the original movie the animators actually took real makeup and applied it to her in every frame. Her lips were also more of a brown red but has become iconic apple red for anyone doing the look now. I hope you like it =).

Elizabeth Taylor Tribute

 Elizabeth Taylor was such an icon. In the movies she was on point and direct and with makeup (in her earlier years) I felt she was one of the greats! I felt it was time I did a tribute to the look and feel of this Hollywood starlet. Here is my take on her look in general, not from any one picture but I thought I'd put up a few that would demonstrate her rich beauty. I think it took me a while to pay homage to her because for the longest time she left a bad taste in my mouth. She was lovely but unfortunately stole a few husbands in her day. I LOVE Debbie Reynolds and Liz took her hubby = (...look at me talking about them as if I know them! =) Anyway, I loved her look, at least, and wanted to give my interpretation of all the little details that made up Elizabeth's face. I hope you like it!

 Can't you just SEE Camilla Belle playing her in a movie??? It's ridiculous how much alike they look!

Lauren's Easy Updo

Can I confess? Will you judge? I'm going to have to take the chance.....I {heart} Lauren Conrad. I truly believe that if we were in the same town.......we would be besties! For SURE!!! She has a blog, not that I should be surprised, but I ToTaLlY didn't know that so when I found it I was pretty stoked! This updo was one of my FAVS of hers on whatever colored carpet she was on =). I am so glad that she made a tutorial on it!!! She has a giveaway going on right now and if you jump on over there you can enter to win some of her beauty favs (pictured below). The Beauty Department's email box is literally flooded with requests for updos, so here’s a fun tutorial from Kristin Ess to get us all going!

This is always a favorite for attending an event. This updo looks gorgeous on any hair color but particularly amazing with highlighted hair because it gives the hair lots of depth and dimension. For lack of a better word, I love the way it becomes “swirly”. Best thing is; it’s easy to do, gorgeous and keeps your hair out of your way for the night.
I made this a printable tutorial, so all of the steps are next to the photos.

Tools you’ll need:

• Curling iron (to prep the hair with waves)

• Sectioning clips

• Teasing comb or brush

• Clear elastic rubber band

• Bobby pins

• Light to medium holding hairspray (to mist over at the end)

Sucker Punch Babydoll Tutorial

I have gotten quite a few requests for this look and it was about time to do it. I haven't seen the movie but I hear it is visually stunning and worth it. Have you seen it? Was it any good? Well, this little chica was the most understated as far as makeup was concerned out of all of them. I remember her from A Series Of Unfortunate Events and RARELY do I think that someone who has dark hair naturally looks better blond. Gwen Stefani is one and now this girl is another. I LOVE it!!! I am for sure a fan of the glowing skin and the pink cheeks. Overall, one of my fav looks and I might just do the hair thing again = D. Enjoy!!!

The Glow And J-Lo Win the Book!!!

 Many of you watch her on American Idol and have asked for more tips on how to achieve her gorgeous look. So I turned to my friend Scott Barnes, who was her makeup artist for more than 10 years and whose book, About Face, features Jennifer on the cover. Scott points out that Jennifer often pairs a smoky eye with pale lips. This combination can look polished for daytime or glamorous at night, depending on how much “smoke” you apply. Here’s how Scott does it:

• Line the inside of your upper and lower lids with a black eye pencil. Scott’s favorite is Maybelline ExpertWear eyeliner in Velvet Black. First he flames the pencil with a lighter or match; this softens it and makes it easier to smudge. But be careful! Let the pencil cool and test it on the back of your hand before using it. He also uses the pencil to fill in between the upper and lower lashes to make them look thicker.
• Use an eyeshadow brush to apply brown or gray shadow in the crease. Sweep the brush back and forth from the inner corner to the outer corner to build up color and give your eyes depth. (For Asian ladies who don’t have an obvious crease, feel where your brow bone is, then move your finger down until the bone stops and your eyeball starts. That’s where your shadow should go.) Bring the shadow above the crease and under the brow bone, but leave a space between the shadow and your brow as well as the middle of your upper lid. Then take a shorter, tapered brush and use the same shadow above and below your eyeliner making the line thicker at the outer edges of your eyes. Blend well so it doesn’t look stripy.
• Use your finger to dab on shimmer in the middle of your upper lid. Scott likes gold (with brown shadow) or silver (with gray shadow). As he says, “When you look down, there’s something happening on your lids.” For evening, dab a bit more shimmer on your brow bone, between your shadow and your brow.

Naked Pallette

Another J-Lo look but you knew this was coming =). I wanted my first look from this pallette to be her and I LOVE this look but H.A.T.E my camera and how it isn't HD. It doesn't pick up the colors like I would like and I am SO in the market for another!!!

Hair Twist

Let me stress this.....I AM NOT A HAIR GIRL!!!!! God gave me little boys to raise so that I would not embarrass his daughters with my attempts!!! However, you asked, I listened =). You may not look like the ladies below but this is how I twisted my hair in the March Favorites Video. Enjoy!

Jennifer Lopez Tutorial

Okay, okay I'm listening! = )You asked for more Jennifer and here she is! Lopez really lights up the (whatever color) carpet with this look. Her makeup artist is very in tune with what looks flawless on her skin. The hint of purple in the crease compliments her eyes and the soft orange right above that compliments her skin. She couples the same orange on her cheek and a hint of it in her lips as well. If you want to know how to get this look click the video below!

Were It In Color...

This is going to be fun!!! I want to do some tutorials where I take a B&W photo and put my spin on what I think it would look like were it in color. I've mostly looked at well known people like Bridgette Bardot (above) so we kind of already know somewhat the feel of their personal look. It could be fun to do random photos too!!! LoVeD doing this look!!!! I spray tanned....not that you can tell with my lovely computer, and wa able to bust out my NW 25!!!! It made me so happy =). I want a "perma-tan" like NObodies business!!! J-Lo/Warm Browns and Golds

LOVE this look!!! It makes me want to grab hot cocoa, my hunny and sit by the fire. It just seemed like an understate sexy look. Made me feel pretty darn cute too when my hubby couldn't stop looking at me, hugging or wanting to cuddle....YAY I MAY STILL HAVE IT LADIES!!!!!!! LOL

Jennifer Lopez

I know we are supposed to be doing soft looks (and that the image above looks like I just ate a bug) but I saw this picture of Jennifer Lopez and LoVeD it!!!! Plus I got booked for a fashion show that day and wanted to look a little dramatic =). The show was AwEsOmE btw and you can see pictures on Facebook at my Doll By Jen page.

Softness

I must admit, I am a closet Disney fan. I LoVe watching the channel movies and shows with the boys....or even without the boys =). I am always looking for images that I want to recreate because they are just so delicious. THESE are dArLiNg!!! Demi usually opts for such dramatic colors that it was SO nice to see her in softness. In less "obvious" clothing and in love =). Sure, she isn't together with this little heart break kid but while it lasted it was CuTe!!! Let's enter our phase of natural beauty.
