ELIE SAAB FALL COUTURE2010:The Passion is Gone

ELIE SAAB, the Lebanese designer who enjoyed years of adoration from his  international admirers, lost the passion for  fashion.Year after year, we look forward to his rich and fabulous collections, chances are, the collection is there, but the "magic" is gone somewhere between red carpets and the deep blue sea.
The flames and the embellishments are there in the runway, like the  phoenix who had been burned to the ground and risen from the flames three times, but for  his Fall couture collection,it was burnt and never rises to expectations. His opening number of  ruched velvet red gown, was little bit the 'LOST' piece of his couture collection few years ago...a certain feeling of deja' vu!

Elie Saab never intended  to get out from  his style and fashion "comfort zones" as he claims and  that he was breaking some personal ground with his focus on classical draping, yet  the draped  one-shouldered  asymmetrical silhouette  just by looking  rewind memories of his past drape so exactly the way it was.

The colors, the broad-shouldered tops, draped gowns with flowing chiffon, the bat-wing sleeves, the embellishment of the fabrics and  the running salt beads  hidden under  tulle embroideries are so things in the past. It  is an old fashioned collection, he must change his Couture venue next season...in the red carpet of the Oscars, where his FALL 2010 belongs.
